Winning Lineups

week 1

Lineup Submitted on Yahoo DFS

Felt really confident starting Lamar Jackson with his matchup against Miami. Baltimore over Miami was a lock pick this week and Lamar was at a great value at $26 (out of $200). Chris Carson and Dalvin Cook both finished with nice production both getting 2 TDs. Godwin and Allen were a little bit of a disappointment. Kittle should have had a bigger day with 2 TDs overturned by stupid penalties that didn't affect the outcome of either play. And Sony was the lone disappointment as a lot of people were expecting more from Sony, at least a TD and more carries. NYJ Defense started out real hot and still finished good, but was a great value start at $17 and with only 0.9% ownership. Finishing the contest at 16th place was good enough to get this lineup in the money with a 4x return on investment of $1. Even though it's a low wager, it's always good to see returns.

Had to start Lamar Jackson again this week as the matchup was too nice against Arizona, and it's early in the season where opposing Defenses haven't keyed in on Lamar's tendencies, yet. Lamar was my DFS start of the week again, and he surely paid off. Although we're not entering high cost tournaments, we are entering tournaments with low entries so the odds of placing in the money are greater, which is really what DFS is about. These lineups can be translated to higher stakes tournaments and be successful, since we're really trying to test the process and make sure it's good, so far it's good. Andrews and Ekeler continued to contribute big numbers compared to their relatively low salaries. The break out player in this lineup was Dalvin Cook who was only owned by 9.6% of people this week. The other key to DFS is to be somewhat contrarian in your picks so you have a higher chance of rostering players that other people won't. We won $15 off a $2 entry fee by placing 2nd overall.

Lamar takes a seat this week with a not great passing matchup against the Chiefs, so we fired up my DFS start of the week with Josh Allen who was in a great matchup against a Cincinnati team that is more focused on offense than defense. It worked out ok. The saving grace of this lineup was Ingram who put up the yards and TDs against the Chiefs who have a bad run defense. Dalvin Cook and Amari Cooper had good but not great days, which is crazy to say because they both performed well. Waller was and will continue to be solid all year as he looks like a younger/faster version of Jared Cook. Patriots D/ST should have had a better day save a pick 6 by the backup QB. Godwin and DK were disappointing as it turned into a day for their counterparts Mike Evans and Tyler Lockett, respectively. Still placed in the money which is all we really want in DFS. DraftKings lineups continue to struggle so we'll keep up the diversity of platforms and try to keep up this winning streak with Yahoo DFS.

week 6

Lineup Submitted on Yahoo DFS

Weeks 4 and 5 were tough ones as we did not place in the money in either DraftKings or Yahoo DFS. Scoring was up in Week 5 making placing in the money more competitive. However, we righted the ship in Week 6 and placed 8 out of 114 entries getting a $7 payout for this contest. The lineup was anchored by the Falcons going up against a Miami defense that allows the 3rd most points to QBs and the most points to the TE position, making Matt Ryan and Austin Hooper juicy targets. Adrian Peterson was my value DFS start of the week and was only started by 9.6% of the contestants, he was 2-feet away from a TD which would have resulted in a much bigger fantasy output. Chris Carson and The F1 Terry McLaurin both had awesome fantasy days, which was expected with Carson going against Cleveland and The F1 going against Miami, you can't beat that Miami matchup. The disappointments of the lineup were Travis Kelce (7.80 points), Dede Westbrook (6.80 points), and mostly the Dallas Cowboys D/ST who got punched in the mouth by the Jets and shocked the football world. Still not bad of an effort to place in 8th, with a few changes that could've resulted in a top 3 finish.
